The Mountain Mardi Gras Piperider Challenge

The Mountain Mardi Gras Piperider Challenge 2009 was a huge success.

The event started with elimination rounds with 4 riders competing for 3 mins to get into the next round. Elimination round winners were presented with SNOW SKIN SPF30 sunscreen and SNOW SKIN chap stick as well as a Havaianas jandal keyring. The jandal was your entry to the next round.

14 jandal keyrings turned back up at 10pm for the mens quarter finals.

All finalists received a pair of full size Havaianas jandals and the winners received an Icebreaker beanie. The icebreaker beanie was their ticket to the grand final.

Four Icebreaker beanies turned up for the grand final.

All grand fianalists received a subscription to Ski and Snow, Adventure or CURL magazine, more Icebreaker gear and more Havaianas gear.

Shaun Webby of Napier won the Mens Piperider Challenge and took home a trip for two from Auckland to Wellington return stopping off wherever on Kiwi Rail including a double lift pass to catch the snow at Ruapehu. Shaun also won a pair of Sanuk Sidewalk surfers and a huge inflatable Havaianas jandal. Shaun said that he practices on his board for 1-2 hours every day.

The womens competition followed the same lines with finals at 11.00pm. Kaitlin Craw was eventually crowned the Moutain Mardi Gras Piperider Challenge Princess and took home all the big prizes and drank the Champagne supplied by No.1
